Entering the Dream World – Creative Reflection

This first entry opens the Creative Blog, a space where the myth of the inner world meets the lived movement of the human journey. Not every post will rise from a dream, but many will emerge from the inner seasons shaping my creative life. This Creative Reflection begins with a return to Dream World, a childhood landscape that resurfaced unexpectedly in a recent dream and opened a deeper movement in my writing and in myself.
Dream World
Dream World was a theme park I visited as a child on the Gold Coast, a place where wonder, fear, imagination, and early courage first came alive in me. My mum would take us there on special occasions, and those days felt like stepping into a world that was larger and brighter than ordinary life. I was too young for the big rollercoaster, but the Rocky Hollow Log Ride held the perfect mix of excitement and unease, just enough for my small body to work through. It was the ride that stayed with me the most, the one that opened something in my early emotional world. I didn’t realise how deeply it lived in me until it resurfaced again, not in memory, but in a dream.
Recurring Dreams
I have many warm memories of visiting Dream World as a child, so it is no surprise that I still return there in my dreams. Sometimes the rides are unfamiliar and far more intense, as if the place has grown darker and more complex with me. But in a recent dream, The Dream Maker brought me back to the Rocky Hollow Log Ride. I was my adult self, and the ride was closing down for good. This time it would run in complete darkness at night. My partner did not want to come with me, saying the ride was for kids. Though secretly I knew he still feared the dark. From a depth psychology perspective everything in the dream is an aspect of me. He was the part of my adult self that did not want to descend into an old emotional landscape. Yet something in me remembered the ride and nudged me forward, asking me to face the forgotten feelings of fear, innocence, imagination, and early courage on my own.

Dream Revealed
Dream World has always held the early imaginative world for me, the place where instinctual joy, fear, and wonder first took shape. Returning there at night in the dream felt like entering an older emotional landscape I had not touched in many years. The darkness, the moving water, the creaking of the ride, and the sudden warmth of the inner sunlight all belonged to a deeper terrain within me. It was not a descent into danger but a return to something forgotten, a part of me waiting to be felt again.
The dream did not offer a single message. It opened a movement. It showed me that an old separation was softening, that the feelings I once left behind were ready to come back into my life. The final ride was not an ending but an invitation to reconnect with the early courage, innocence, and imagination that shaped me long before I knew I would become a writer.
Future Writing
The timing of this dream feels fitting as I step into the largest creative project of my life. My writing is moving through a threshold, shifting from reflection into mythic storytelling. There is a companion I have been missing on this journey, one I now realise is essential for what comes next. It is The Living Child in me, the part that carries instinctual curiosity, warmth, and wonder. This presence asks for less structure and more imagination, more feeling, more aliveness.
I can sense this movement beginning to take shape in my work. The Living Child wants to bring colour and texture back into my writing, to speak through the emotions and sensations that were quieter in my earlier pieces. The dream showed me that an older cycle is softening, and a new embodied phase is beginning. It feels like the start of a deeper creative life, one that asks me to write not only from knowing but from the places in me that are waking again.
